Mammoth and Hoover Dam
2011
After traveling through Yosemite for a full day we drove to Mammoth, California. When we got to our hotel it was pretty late and we were wiped out. Imagine how delighted we were the next morning to wake up and see this outside our hotel window.
OK, I'm in love! Can we live here now?
There wasn't to much to do in Mammoth if you weren't there to ski and it was off season anyway so we sat in the hotel room and relaxed for most of the morning. Then we went to get a bite to eat and stretch our legs before we headed back out.
Austin had been really wanting a watch for a while and one of the shops just so happened to have a black, digital watch in a kids size. Just what he was looking for! Oh the hours of fun a new watch can supply with minute by minute updates of "What time it is?"
A new watch is fun!

Next stop...
Hoover Dam! Austin is weirded out by dark, loud, closed in spaces so we didn't go on the underground tour. We did walked around outside for a bit. And by just a bit I mean about five minutes. I think it was 114 degrees outside which is inhumane to stay in.
There it is. OK great, now let's go find some AC!
Yup, there we are standing in front of the Hoover Dam.
Although the history of the dam is very interesting it didn't exactly captivate Austin. Dam jokes on the other hand...
Here Austin is at the dam snack bar complaining about the dam heat and would I please ask the dam employee behind the dam counter if he could have a dam soda please. Oh, and before we left we all made sure to use the dam restroom.
Next stop, The Grand Canyon!
