Winter
It feels like this whole month has been cold and raining with little sun for more days than I can count. Which has brought us in for lots of chilled out days, hanging out with each other. It's brought an opportunity to slow down, unwind and relax.
In between reading and naps there has been a lot of Lego creating going on. Although there is always a little Lego play during the day, it seems like this past month there has been a surge in the amount of time Austin wants to build. Actually, I would say this month has had a "create" theme to it.
We really missed our big, fluffy, brown couch while we were in San Francisco. We haven't really taken advantage of the space it offers us since we got back seeing that all the really cool stuff is upstairs. With the cold, come fires and laying on our couch watching movies on the laptop and reading while enjoying the warmth the fire offers our tootsies.
White Cat has enjoyed the surge of creativity also. We made her a new bag and sunglasses one afternoon. When you are as beautiful as White Cat there is an expectation to always look your best.
This year I decided I was going to make all of the ornaments that went on our tree and really tone down the Clark Griswold-ness that our house takes on during this time of year. I did some decoupage and some with glittered "snow" on the outside. One night Austin came running downstairs, "I have the most brilliant idea! Let's fill the ornaments up with glitter!" Yes! Let's!
I've been really getting into creating Lego pieces with Austin. There has been more than one occasion when Austin has left to go do something else and I've stayed back to finish what I am creating. On this day I made a pirate ship with a garden on board...you know, to ward of scurvy.
I have fond memories of going to the bowling alley with my dad and grandpa when I was younger. My dad hasn't gotten the chance to show Austin how to play real bowling yet, but he has had the chance to show him how to play a mean game of Wii bowling.
Although I miss the sun and the heat, so, so very much, I will say it has been nice to take it down a notch to cozy up and relax.
