Uncle J Comes To Stay

2013

My brother, AKA, Uncle J, came up from San Diego to celebrate Austin turning 12 and see the city.

Saturday morning we awoke to heavy rain, something we haven't had all summer. Jason and I decided to brave the storm and head into the city. Even if it was rainy, there are plenty of really cool museums to check out and food to eat, so it wouldn't be a total waste.

He saw three sets of parrots on his first visit to Telegraph Hill. I've been four times and have never seen them!

The weather cleared up and after seeing the bridge we headed over to North Beach to eat then check out Telegraph Hill. I discovered that hike and those stairs are a much more difficult trek than they were three years ago when we lived in the city.

When we got the end of the stairs we decided to keep on heading down until we hit the bottom of the hill and then cruise around the city. We hit plenty of beautiful views on our way.

Once we got to the piers we sat and rested our weary feet and shins then walked until we were ready to go home. We hopped into a cab, where we were scolded and lectured by a very angry and somewhat mentally unstable cab driver about using a card to pay instead of using cash. He even wagged his finger at us. Damn wiper snappers!

After a long day of walking, sitting on the couch and watching Kung Fu Panda was the perfect end to our day.

Austin's only request for his birthday was a massive 1990 piece Ewok Lego set, that Monty worked on all day long while Jason and I trekked the city. He finished it just in time for Austin to wake up and show Uncle J before he had to go.

A little catching up through pictures and stories.

We look forward to the next time we get to spend so much time with Jason. Maybe a family trip to San Diego is in order.
