Seriously, Austin Is The Best Place Evah!

2011

This weekend was one of those absolutely blissful weekends in Austin.  The weather was perfect and begged me to get out in it.

It's supposed to rain heavily this week so I thought it a good time to go to my favorite nursery, Barton Spring Nursery to get some plants that I have been eyeballing and researching for a naked bed in our front yard.  I came home with Milkweed, Fennel, Parsley, a Texas Sage because it attracks so many bees, Guara, Texas Lantana, Purple Coneflower, Verbena, Skeleton Goldenleaf, Blackfoot Daisy and Texas Betony.  Oh, and a Red Yucca.  Whew! They will have to wait to go into the ground until tomorrow because today...

was the Texas Vegetarian Chili Cook Off!

Jason seriously thinking about getting some more chili.

Candi, Olivia, and Desiree watching a demonstration on how to make hemp blueberry muffins.

Thanks Desiree for capturing me looking at the beautiful red berries on that tree.

The cook off was held at Round Rocks' Old Settlers park where there is a lake on the grounds.  Olivia had the brilliant idea to go down to the the water to see what was happening down there. There were lots of beautiful flowers/weeds in the grass. Candi and I both agreed we would be OK with those weeds in our yard.

This weekend was filled with so much beauty, friends and family in a festival friendly city that I can't help but walk away feeling filled with joy.
