Hawaii: Part Four
2013
Monty wasn't getting better as the days went on. He could leave the hotel room for very short periods of time, but would end up completely wiped out and need to go back to the room to sleep afterwards. Austin was getting tired of going to the pool with me. He would go for a little bit, but then want to go hang out in the room and play games.
This left me feeling a little bored. Monty didn't need much. He couldn't eat and was slowly starting to drink more fluid, so a couple bottles of water and a bolus ready for Austin and he was good to go.
I talked with them about how I was feeling adventurous and wanted to see more of the island, but felt guilty about leaving them. They told me not to worry, they were fine and to go be adventurous.
So off I went on a boat ride to see the Na'Pali coast and snorkel a bit.
The coast line is very beautiful and all- like nothing I've ever seen- but it couldn't beat swimming with the fish for me. I LOVE swimming with fish! I could have stayed out there for hours, came in for a snack, then gone back out for a couple more hours.
I was a little surprised to see that most people were out of the water before the 45 minutes were up. I guess the draw for those people was the coast. I was like, "Fish people! Fish!" And then they all started to back away slowly.
Anyway, I was hungry and if this was my new life I had better just start getting used to it. I went down to get some happy hour sushi. Wow. This was the best sushi I have had in my entire life. All that yummy sushi I had before that I thought was the best sushi I had ever had was total swag compared to this sushi.
After a good nights sleep I am happy to announce I did not end up suffering from Mal de barquement syndrome. Just a case of motion sickness. I'm sure it was a close call, though.

The Na'Pali coast line is beautiful, for sure.
After about an hour we arrived at a cove where we could snorkel which, for me was the real point of the trip.

Me being placated with wine after they made me get out of the water.
When I got back to the hotel I took a nap and when I woke I had this strange feeling I was swaying back and forth. Monty assured me it would go away in a bit- that it was because I was on a boat for five hours- but then it didn't. Five hours later I still felt like I was swaying back and forth and I was starting to freak out. Was this my new life? I have a friend who has experienced Mal de debarquement syndrome and I was certain it was happening to me. I tend to go to the worse case scenario first. The time I had my first migraine I was certain it was cancer or I was having a stroke. It's fun to be me sometimes.
